Next week is a big week- International Babywearing Week and the fall Baby Bump Expo NW show! We are celebrating with an All New and EXPANDED Babywearing feature at the big event!
"Medical professionals agree that infants thrive through touch..."
- babywearinginternational.org (1)
Research has shown that babies cry less through babywearing, and thrive more! A study published in the journal Pediatrics, researchers found that babywearing for three hours a day reduced infant crying by an average 50%. (2) And through a practice called "kangacare" parents with preemies (and newborns) are encouraged to babywear even in the hospital to encourage the developing infant in many ways!
So...Come to Learn! Baby Bjorn and the South Puget Sound Chapter of Babywearing International are sponsoring this special feature in partnership with Moby, LILLEbaby, Sakura Bloom, and Tekhni Wovens! Parents and parents-to-be can visit the BWI Babywearing Station Lending Library to try on carriers and learn from experts on how to use them. Jennifer Green, Certified Babywearing Educator, Postpartum Doula, and founder of the South Puget Sound Chapter of BWI will be presenting "Babywearing Basics" on our Babywearing Stage followed by a Babywearing Fashion Show. The final workshop of the day hosted by Mat York, otherwise known as "That Dad Mat" parenting educator extradinoaire, will include an expert Babywearing Panel with guests like Amy Rainbow from "Amy Wraps Babies", David Rose, aka "DR Babywearing Dad", as well as Marketing Director for LILLEbaby, Karyn Thurston!
Additional booths in this are include PNWovens, The Carrying on Project, and Sweet Baby Wraps as the Babywearing Boutique!
