Ok, I know no one wants to be seen or heard criticizing beautiful Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, I mean the world pretty much loves this royal family… Right?! I know I love seeing their adorable family! I know there was shock and “wow” responses to the images of Kate only hours after giving birth, but how about, “Umm… no please and seriously on the heels?!”
For decades the royal family has worked on connecting better with the people. And this moment pretty much lost me, and also drives me a little nuts.
I was just reading a Facebook post from a friend earlier this week where multiple women who had
recently gave birth shared pictures on social media and felt the need to include in the caption a message like “ignore my double chin” or “sorry for looking this way”- type of wording. My friend was saddened by this as am I, that women who have just given birth (that’s right ladies, you just created a breathing and living human being) are worried about what people will think of some insignificant thing in their appearance. And I wonder why we women might let our minds go this way? Could it be perhaps that the world is shown pictures like this of Kate? I mean, we all know that she has a team of people who help her prepare for this moment in front of the cameras after birth, but that team of people aren’t wearing the high heels! Could they not have least styled her in the cute ballet flats?!
I am excited for the new royal baby. Do I still think William and Kate and their kiddos are adorable? Sure. But let’s keep it real, just a teensy bit. No women wants to put on a pair of heels hours after giving birth! So don’t make Kate do it.
And all you women out there expecting and packing for your bag for birth… do not, I repeat, DO NOT feel the need to pack a pair of heals or some fancy outfit. Hell, take your slippers for coming home! And know that we will STILL think you are beautiful.
