Pregnant with baby #1 this summer? Embrace a few summer joys before summer is TOTALLY different! For instance, hitting the beach as parents will never be like visiting the beach as a couple. And here’s why…
A beach visit before baby…
Flip flops and maybe a beach blanket are enough for a quick visit to the beach
After baby you will THINK that you can do a low-key trip to the beach, but before you know it, you have packed the diaper bag, a sunshade tent, beach toys, water floaties, life vest, towels, small cooler, snacks, and a wagon to haul it all in!
Snacks aren’t immediately covered in sand
Seriously… how is it possible, that the MOMENT you open the bag of chips at the beach with little ones, there is mysteriously sand in it immediately! We tried to time how long it took on one beach trip before sand got in the food… I don’t think we were even done setting up the beach chairs and blanket before there was sand in the ziplock of cheese. Yum.
Sunsets at the beach are beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing
After children, well… my oldest child is now eleven. Oh my goodness… I don’t think we have stopped at the beach for a sunset in like a decade!! (We will leave it at that).
When you leave, the beach stays at the beach
It really doesn’t matter how much brushing off you do… when there are children involved, there is SO MUCH SAND that comes home with you when you leave the beach. PLUS, before long, they are big enough to find beach treasures. And guess what?!... the next thing you know they have hauled a collection of sand covered logs, sticks, shells, rocks, dead crabs, you name it… in the car!
No one is eating sand.
So, go and enjoy the beach a few more times with that beautiful belly. Then start embracing the parent-life, and so much eating sand!
